I had planned on refraining from writing anything about Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton because I felt that there was really nothing I could add to what’s already available on hundreds of websites. But I ran across an article last week that revealed some information that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and I figured you probably haven’t seen it either.

The article I’m referring to was written by Rod Martin and was posted on his website at RodMartin.org. On his website, Martin is described as “a technology entrepreneur, futurist, hedge fund manager, thought leader, and activist from Destin, Florida.” He’s also a devout Christian.

In his article, Martin discussed his ongoing skepticism of Trump. He expressed some of the same doubts that most of us have when it comes to Trump. Those doubts included Trump’s lack of moral character and his previous positions concerning abortion and other moral issues that are important to Christians.

Despite his skepticism, Martin admitted that his views of Trump changed somewhat after he attended a recent evangelical conference that Trump participated in. Martin said that he attended the largest meeting at the conference, in which almost 1,000 people participated. Trump was at the meeting and spoke about several issues that were important to evangelical Christians.

According to Martin, Trump talked about the importance of selecting and appointing judges who will adhere to the U.S. Constitution and the principles upon which our nation was built. Trump also spent a lot of time talking about the Johnson Amendment, which is something most people and most candidates don’t know anything about.

Trump knew what he was doing, because the Johnson Amendment is extremely important to devout evangelicals. The Johnson Amendment (named after then-Senator Lyndon B. Johnson) was passed by Congress in 1954. It added a provision to the U.S. tax code that prohibits tax-exempt organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates.

Prior to the passage of the Johnson Amendment, nonprofit organizations such as Christian churches and groups were allowed to speak out in favor of or against political candidates. After the amendment was passed, anti-Christian lawmakers and organizations began bullying and threatening Christian pastors with removal of their church’s nonprofit status if they continued to attempt to influence the political process.

The purpose of the Johnson Amendment was to completely prevent the ability of the leaders of Christian churches and organizations to participate in the political process. Trump assured the people at the evangelical conference that he will repeal the Johnson Amendment if he is elected.

Toward the end of the meeting, Trump pointed out that a majority of Americans agree with evangelicals on most issues. He went on to say that because the people at the conference were leaders in the evangelical community, they were some of the most powerful people in the country concerning issues of faith and morals.

He then proceeded to gently scold them for their unwillingness to confront the declining culture in our country. He expressed surprise at the degree of silence among Christian leaders in our country and their unwillingness to fight for what they believe in.

Trump has proven that he has an uncanny ability to tap into issues that are of great concern to a majority of Americans. He has also proven that he has the ability to correctly identify other people’s weaknesses and then take advantage of those weaknesses.

Based on Trump’s past, it’s easy to question his sincerity when he claims that he is a Christian. But even if we were to assume that he was not sincere when he made his comments to the people who were at the evangelical conference, his criticism of their silence and unwillingness to confront the declining culture in our country was absolutely correct.

Trump has a lot of credibility when he talks about speaking out and confronting the opposition. For the past year, we’ve witnessed him practice what he preaches on a regular basis.

He has proven that he’s willing to go to battle against his opponents. When he sets a goal, he puts everything he has into achieving the goal. He’s relentless. He’s a steamroller who crushes everyone and everything that gets in his way. His attitude is that nothing is going to stop him.

This is one of the primary reasons why Trump is a billionaire. He rose to the top one-tenth of one percent of the population in wealth because of his willingness and ability to outmaneuver everyone who gets in his way. It’s too bad that he chose to use his abilities to get rich instead of to serve God.

Regardless of what you might think of Trump, there is a lot to learn from the way he conducts himself. If you look at the lives of the greatest saints in the Catholic Church, you will see that they had some of the same qualities that Trump has. They were fearless. They ignored the criticism of their opponents. They were steamrollers who never gave up and were willing to crush their evil opponents when necessary.

What if Trump had become a devout Catholic cardinal instead of a worldly billionaire? What if he were humble, but still had all the traits that have made him a winner — smart, bold, fearless, confident, and shameless? Can you picture it? Cardinal Trump of the Archdiocese of New York.

I can see it now. When the Supreme Court shocked the country by ruling that abortion was legal in all 50 states, Cardinal Trump would have immediately called a press conference and declared, “This will not stand!”

Then he would have organized an emergency meeting of all the U.S. cardinals and bishops and convinced them that they were going to give the country 180 days to pass three amendments to the U.S. Constitution: the first would outlaw all abortions, the second would give Congress the power to overturn a decision of the Supreme Court with three-fourths of a vote, and the third would impose term limits of eight years for all Supreme Court justices.

Cardinal Trump would explain that if the amendments were not passed within 180 days, the Catholic Church would close all the Catholic schools, hospitals, and social service agencies. Then our almighty government could take care of and educate the millions of people who are supported by the Catholic Church.

After issuing the ultimatum, Cardinal Trump would then begin speaking at Catholic rallies throughout the country — with the media in tow — to put pressure on the state legislatures to pass the constitutional amendments. If anyone tried to make him look like he was stupid or out of control, he would brand them with the name that best described them, such as evil, crooked, wacky, or crazy. He would use his Twitter account to ridicule his evil enemies. The cowardly politicians would have no other choice but to cooperate with the Catholic Church.

I know, I know. Nothing like this will ever happen, but at least I can dream.
