The First Independence Day

StatueLibertyLast Monday morning while I was driving to the office, I turned on the radio to listen to the morning news.  The big story of the day was the death of Robert Byrd, the record holder for longevity in the United States Senate.  Byrd died at the age of 92, and was a senator for the state of West Virginia for 51 years.

Just One More

BarbieI was able to bring Georgette home from St. Mary’s hospital last Monday (June 21).  The trip took about 7 ½ hours.  In order to keep her blood from clotting, we had to stop every 90 minutes so she could get out of the car and walk around.  All things considered, she is doing very well.  She’s not allowed to drive for 4 weeks and is forbidden from lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk for 6 weeks.

A Hidden Miracle

SacredHeartLast week I told you about the heart surgery that was scheduled for Georgette.  Thanks to the prayers from an army of Christians, the surgery was successful and she is slowly recovering.  The surgery was performed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, by Dr. Hartzell Schaff, a heart surgeon who is considered by many to be the top surgeon in the world for the type of heart surgery Georgette needed to have.

Ambushed By My Cousin

TeenageBoysLast week, after I published my article on The Two Greatest Desires, I happened to run into one of my cousins.  When I saw her walking toward me, I noticed the expression on her face.  It was one of those determined looks, a look that alerted me that she was about to give me a lecture.  How was it that was I able to read the look on her face?  She raised her family in the same neighborhood I grew up in, and during that time I had several opportunities to see the same look on her face immediately prior to her delivering a lecture to me or someone else in the neighborhood.

The Most Important Person on Earth

silhouette-of-woman-prayingA recent article in Newsweek lamented about how there is no longer any “passion” for “abortion rights” among younger women.  Nancy Keenan, the current president of NARAL (originally founded in 1969 as the National Association for Repeal of Abortion Laws), was quoted in the article as follows:

A Drive-Thru Experience

WendysThere’s something that’s been going on for awhile that’s really starting to irritate me.  The more I see it, the more irritated I get.  I don’t remember when it started, but it’s been going on for a least at few years now.
