A lawsuit was recently filed by a Christian-based nonprofit women’s homeless shelter against the City of Anchorage, Alaska, the Anchorage Equal Rights Commission, and the executive director of the commission. According to the lawsuit, the Hope Center, which operates as the Downtown Soup Kitchen, is asking the court to allow it to exclude individuals who were born as biological males, but who now claim to be female. The Hope Center has been in business for more than 30 years.
The lawsuit was filed because the Anchorage Equal Rights Commission launched an investigation after a complaint was filed by a transgender woman who was denied access to the Hope Center. The lawsuit is asking a federal judge to overturn a city ordinance as unconstitutional because it violates the religious beliefs of the individuals who run the shelter.
Here’s how the Hope Center described its dilemma in the lawsuit that was filed with the court:
It would not only be dangerous and against common sense, but it would violate the Hope Center’s sincerely held religious beliefs to admit biological men into its shelter and allow them to sleep side by side and disrobe next to women, some of whom have been assaulted by men and fear for their safety.
In the lawsuit, the Hope Center has asked the court to allow the Downtown Soup Kitchen to post a sign that states that “guests must be biological females, meaning they were born with, and currently have, only anatomical and genetic characteristics of a woman.”
Ten years ago, no one would have predicted that sane people would believe that it was acceptable to allow an individual who was born as a biological man to shower with and sleep next to homeless woman in a shelter, simply because he claimed that he was now a woman instead of a man.
But that’s not all that’s going on with the insane transgender movement in our country.
Earlier this month, a five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a boy at a school where both of them were students. The boy had previously told the so-called sane adults in his home and school that he had come to the conclusion that he was gender fluid. The definition of a “gender fluid” individual is “a person who does not identify as having a fixed gender.”
The assault took place in the girls’ bathroom at a local school in Decatur, Georgia. The boy was allowed to enter the girls’ bathroom because of a policy that requires all schools in Decatur, Georgia, to allow boys who identify as female to enter into girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, and shower areas. The policy was put into place in July 2016, by David Dude, the superintendent of schools in the City of Decatur.
But guess what. When the policy was adopted, it was not disclosed to the public. The parents and families in the Decatur school system were not aware of the new bathroom and locker room policy. Now why would the superintendent of schools hide such a progressive policy from the parents of the children who were attending the schools?
There was a time in America when a group of fathers of daughters who were students in the public school system in Decatur, Georgia, would have paid a visit to the home of the superintendent of schools and then run him out of town. The fathers would have then been honored as heroes in the community. Today, the same fathers would be shamed and intimidated by the media and public officials if they even suggested that this type of action should be taken against the superintendent of schools.
So what’s going on? How is it that our culture and our institutions have deteriorated to such an extent that girls and women are no longer safe in bathrooms and homeless shelters?
There are a lot of factors that have brought about the acceptance of this type of insane behavior. One turning point was in 1974. Until then, homosexuality was classified as a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association; however, in 1974, homosexuality was removed from the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The category that applied to individuals who were in conflict with their sexuality (e.g., transgender individuals), continued to be a mental disorder until 1987 when it was removed from the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
Regardless of what the American Psychiatric Association says about homosexuality and transgenderism, individuals who adopt and practice lifestyles that involve homosexual and transgender behavior are still committing grave sins against God. God’s laws concerning sexual behavior do not change with cultural norms.
We were warned more than 100 years about the dangerous growth of the “sins of the flesh.” Between May and October 1917, the Mother of God appeared to three children in Fatima — Lucia dos Santos (10), Francisco Marto (9), and Jacinta Marto (7). One of the primary reasons for our Lady’s appearances was to warn the people of the world that they must stop offending God, amend their lives, and pray the rosary every day.
In one of her apparitions, the Blessed Mother told the children, “More souls go to hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other reason.” She then told them that war was a punishment from God for the sins of mankind. She warned that if her requests for prayer, reparation, and sacrifice were not heeded, “good people will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, [and] various nations will be annihilated.” The definition of “annihilate” is “to destroy completely or to reduce to nonexistence.” Only a nuclear weapon can annihilate a nation. At the time of our Lady’s appearances to the children, nuclear weapons had not yet been invented.
In 1930, after investigating the Fatima apparitions, the Catholic Church declared them “worthy of credence.” On May 13, 2017, the 100-year anniversary of the first Fatima apparition, Pope Frances canonized Francisco and Jacinta Marto as saints. On February 13, 2017, Sister Lucia dos Santos was given the title of Servant of God, which was the first major step toward her canonization. Jacinta was (and still is) the youngest non-martyred child ever to be canonized.
Despite our Lady’s 1917 warning, the sins of the flesh accelerated. In 1929, a company in the United States began mass production of the newly invented latex condom. With the ability to manufacture and distribute thousands of condoms per week, couples now had easy access to affordable birth control that was never available to them before. Despite prohibitions against contraception that were in place within Christian and Catholic faiths, there was widespread acceptance among Christians and Catholics to this new form of birth control.
Because the Blessed Mother’s 1917 warning was not heeded, the Second World War began in 1939, 22 years after the introduction of the latex condom. The war did not end until 1945. The total casualties from World War II were estimated to be 45 million civilians, 25 million men who fought in the war, and an additional 25 million men who were wounded during the war.
Despite our Lady’s warning and the subsequent wars that followed, today, more than 100 years after she warned the world about the proliferation of the sins of the flesh, we have more sexual sins than ever. These sins include sophisticated forms of contraception that are up to 100% effective (e.g., sterilization), more than 56 million worldwide abortions each year, widespread premarital sex and adultery, widespread homosexual and transgender behavior, and other forms of sexual perversion that not even animals would think of engaging in.
So with all the sins of the flesh that are now taking place in our modern society, how have we been able to avoid another world war? I have a theory as to why that punishment has not yet been allowed to occur. I’ll share my theory with you next week.

I can’t help thinking of the story “The Emperor’s New Clothes” . . . ;(
Harry and Georgette – I’ve been in the Hospital for 5 days – home with restrictions that limit my emailing. My prayers are with you and your family always. Love, Sister Roberta
