The Pornographic Mind

Trial By FireAfter starting my own law practice in 1983, the first lawyer who hired me to help him with some of his client files was Raymond (Ray) Rose, a well-known Peoria injury and malpractice trial attorney.  In addition to paying me to work on his files, Ray taught me the fundamentals of how to handle clients, question witnesses, conduct depositions, and prepare cases for trial.

Turning Parents into Criminals

ParentsThere was a period of time in the mid-1990s when Georgette was homeschooling five of our children at the same time, all of whom were at different grade levels.  During that time, she was also taking care of our two youngest children, who were not yet in school.  Because she was so overwhelmed, we had several conversations about putting some or all of our children in the school system.

Was Jesus A Real Man?

Charles AtlasWhen I was 13 years old, I tore a coupon out of a comic book, wrote in my name and address, and mailed it to a company by the name of “Charles Atlas Ltd.”   The ad that I answered was written in a comic book format and started out by showing a young man who was a “97 pound weakling” being humiliated in front of his date by a bully kicking sand in his face.

Capturing Jesus on YouTube

Have you ever wondered why Jesus chose to come to Earth during the time of Herod rather than now?  Wouldn’t it have been better if his sermons were recorded so all of us could see and hear Him on television and the Internet?  Wouldn’t it be a lot easier to convince others to become believers if we could show them online videos of our Lord’s miracles?  And wouldn’t we benefit from watching before-and-after videos of individuals who were mentally and physically healed by Jesus?

The Poison Pipeline

I recently settled an auto accident injury case for a university professor.  For purposes of discussion, I’m going to call him John (not his real name).  John told me that he originally came to the United States in the early 1980s to attend college.  After graduating, he accepted a job offer from a large U.S. corporation.  He eventually became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

Where Do You Draw The Line?

A few years ago one of my injury clients, Jane, called and told me that she had recently ended a homosexual relationship and was being harassed by her former partner, Jenifer.*  During the time they were together, Jane and Jennifer lived in Jennifer’s house and split the household expenses.  They also shared a small dog that Jennifer had given to Jane as a gift.

How To Deal With A Gay Family Member

The Catholic Church has always taught that we should love the sinner but hate the sin.  That’s exactly what we’re expected to do when we have a family member or friend who is homosexual.  The Church’s official position on homosexuality can be found in paragraphs 2357 through 2359 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which provide as follows:
