Pruning

PruningA couple of times a week, my wife (Georgette) sends an email to me and our children with an update on what’s been going on in her life and the lives of our children.  Three of our seven children live out of town — one in California, one in Colorado, and one in Chicago.

Sloth – Failure To Do God’s Work

Do you know the first words of Jesus Christ that were recorded in the Bible?  His mother asked Him why He had not told her where He had been for three days, and the twelve-year-old Son of God responded, “How is it that you sought Me?  Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”  (Luke 2:49)

Gluttony – The Spirit Is Willing, but the Flesh Is Weak

Is Suffering Evil?

Last Monday while I was in the adoration chapel, a former client of mine, Mary Grace Schneider, arrived for one of her weekly holy hours.  I noticed that there was something different about her, but it didn’t register in my brain until she asked me to pray for her.  That’s when I realized what was different.  She had walked into the chapel without a brace or other walking device, something she had not been able to do for several years.

Lent, Kites & Secrets

On a Sunday afternoon in March of 1968, when I was 11 years old, one of my aunts packed her 8 children (6 boys and 2 girls) into her station wagon and took them over to my Grandparents’ house to visit.  At that time, we lived in the country and my parents’ home was next-door to my grandparents’ home.
